How Do I Start DonorsChoose?

Friday, June 29, 2012

After hearing from so many of you I realized that there are far fewer teacher bloggers on than I thought!! If you are a public school teacher and you are not on donorschoose you need to get started now!! So for that very reason I'm going to show you how easy it is!!

Hello everyone!!! I'm in a crazy hectic mode right now! We are finally settled back in and the house looks like a tornado ran through it. Not to mention I'm teaching the summer readiness program this week for those incoming kinder kiddos that won't be mine this coming year *sigh*

Bake It!

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Ladies (and gents) I have to admit I'm not a huge chocolate fan,
but I can't deny a great brownie!! So I have the best pinterest pin I've ever tried!

Kelly shared this wonderful recipe for us! It's really hard to make but it's worth it! Are you ready??
Hard right?
You follow the directions on the box except you only use these two ingredients!!
I tried it.... and they were delicious!
Mine did not come out as pretty as hers so I will share her pic.
If you havent visited her blog yet please do... it's adorable!

One more "recipe" I love.

Lemon cucumber water!! MMM MMM so refreshing!

Grow It!

Let me start off by saying I don't have much of a green thumb.... but that being said we actually didn't do that bad. We started early this year due to the warm weather in March. Each student did their thing by filling their cup with soil at a center, picking their seeds, and planting!

We set their cups in the sun and spritzed them daily!

No joke! 3 days later this is what we saw!! I couldn't believe my eyes!! Marigolds work wonders in the classroom!

We tracked them on our hand dandy plant books and met all their needs in our classroom for a few weeks. We then transplated them with help outside!!

Unfortunately, due to the drought they died :( no matter how much water we gave they died :(
so next year we are going to create these adorable guys!

Glad To Be Back!!

Monday, June 25, 2012
Hello y'all! It's been a while and I've missed you! We are finally headed back from our missions trip and family reunion. I wish I could bring everyone home with us, but unfortunately we can't ;(

Since I am blogging from my phone I'm going to keep it short, but ask you a favor. I was just notified that my current DonorsChoose project is about to expire. I always feel horrible when I get that email. Especially if there are many that have already donated.

Anyway on to how you can help. If you follow this link you can vote and Facebook 'like' (worth 10 votes) top projects are funded through this company. I'm hoping to get to the top, fingers crossed. If not I'll probably feel bad enough to finish the donation myself through the old fashioned way...

Other than voting on OO, anyone know of any help or current promo codes for DC ? We only have 23 days left before this expires :(

As always thanks! And can't wait to read all the comments I missed!

Make It!

Sunday, June 24, 2012

Make it hmmmmm
can I tell you what I plan on making??
Unfortunately I haven't been able to actually make it yet because they won't let me in the school long enough to do it!!

Let me see a show of hands for those of you that have heard of chalkboard paint... ok put them down. Let me see a show of hands for those of you that would like to paint something in your classroom with chalkboard paint... keep them raised if you'd like to find a cheaper way of doing it...

Ok that's what I thought. I want to paint EVERYTHING with chalkboard paint, but at $15 dollars for a teensy tinsy little can I started searching for alternatives and guess what this girl found????

Yep! That's it!!

and Martha says
"Start with flat-finish latex paint in any shade. For small areas, such as a door panel, mix 1 cup at a time.
1. Pour 1 cup of paint into a container. Add 2 tablespoons of unsanded tile grout. Mix with a paint stirrer, carefully breaking up clumps.
2. Apply paint with a roller or a sponge paintbrush to a primed or painted surface. Work in small sections, going over the same spot several times to ensure full, even coverage. Let dry.
3. Smooth area with 150-grit sandpaper, and wipe off dust.
4. To condition: Rub the side of a piece of chalk over entire surface. Wipe away residue with a barely damp sponge."

I am planning on using it on my teacher table! The kiddos will be able to write right on it! GENIUS!!!
What would you paint?
